An Atlanta Guest House

Last week on 'Spaces I love', I featured an image with a barn door (a current crush of mine). This space turned out to be the guest house of a large Atlanta home.

The guest house can be seen to the left of the pool and as you can see it has been kept in similar character to the main house. With a central pool area guests can share the gorgeous amenities yet have their own private residence.

Designed by D Stanley Dixon Architects and built by Ladisic Fine Homes, the relaxed interior is beautifully executed by Tillman Long. The interior design has been kept simple with white painted T&G boards to walls and ceilings keeping it light and bright. The dark wood floors add contrast and a sense of warmth. Elegance can be seen in the filigree chandelier and the traditional style furnishing and touches of green and the yellow in the soft furnishing make it appear fresh and welcoming.

Above: Barn doors are becoming extremely popular and I have a major crush... somewhere in my life there will be a barn door
Above: If you have a guest house or holiday home, there is no reason for it not to be elegant, yet still feel relaxed
Above: Flowers are welcoming so placing a small vase of fresh flowers in a guest bedroom or guest house, is a must
Above: The kitchen has been kept simple yet it has all the amenities required
Above: Barn doors separate the living area from the bedroom. Black accents are dotted around such as the small side table, handles, curtain rods and of course the fabulous barn slider

Above: Most people will forget about art in a bathroom, however if you have wall space in your bathroom or en suite, you could easily hang some art. Remember when buying art for a bathroom it is going into a damp atmosphere. The ideal art would be an acrylic painting. If you want to know more about buying art for your home, I have an earlier post...-How to Select the Perfect Artwork for Your Home.

I hope you have enjoyed this quick tour, not many of us are lucky enough to have a beautiful guest house such as this but there is no reason you cannot have your own beautiful guest suite and it is those special touches that will delight your guests.
